Introduction to preliminary task

Before beginning on the main task, I must complete a preliminary task which requires me to research, plan and create the front cover of a new student magazine, including the contents page. The cover has to include a medium close-up shot of a student.

The preliminary task should take 3 weeks. In the first week I will research and plan my cover. I will do this by finding out the main conventions of a student magazine, make some initial ideas and plans for how I will carry out the creation of the cover, find out some appropriate colour schemes for it, work out how I will address the reader (mode of address and create a mockup of the cover and contents.

Week 2 will require me to organize a photo shoot with a student for the cover, create the cover itself and start work on the contents page.

In the third week I will create the contents page, and evaluate the pages I have created. All of this will be posted onto the blog.

Introduction to brief

The AS media course requires me to create a front page, contents and double page feature of a new music magazine as coursework. I will be using this blog to keep a record of the research and planning to create the magazine pages successfully.
